Additive-based Purging Compounds Provide Multiple Benefits
Environmental regulations are costly realities for plastics processors today.
Sending scrap plastic out to the landfill is a no-no. High quality scrap can be resold, if it is classified and carefully segregated by resin type, color, and filler content.
However, what do you do with used purging compound? Most purging compounds are composed of a proprietary blend of resins, fillers and various cleaning additives, the details of which are unknown to the user.
After the purging process, you are left with a pile of unclassifiable compound -- not very saleable.
Purge-USA is a solution to this dilemma. It is only the additive package portion of a purging compound. You put it in your own known choice of resin that you have on hand in your plant, probably purchased in volume at a good price.
96% of the Purge-USA is volatile and leaves the resin at the nozzle. 4% is left behind in the resin, and since you originally used 5% by weight, you are left with a pile of known compound containing 0.2% Purge-USA remnants plus the known color, resin, or black specs that Purge-USA VERY effectively has removed from your machine.
Now, you're left with your own custom purging compound, which gives you some options (aside from sneaking it into the landfill):
- Regrind it, add more Purge-USA and purge again.
- Resell it as scrap, since you basically know what resin classification it fits into and are now selling this same scrap resin.
- Blend it off into a dark-color, same resin for making non-critical products.
If none of the above is a viable solution, the remaining reality is you have superbly cleaned your machine while creating a much smaller amount of scrap purging compound to deal with.
